BGF fam -
Last January, we announced our 2020 goals and intentions to help take BGF to the next level. Then just as we formed teams for our Spring season, our plans were put on pause (for a lot longer than we expected!). It hurt to lose our momentum, but now with 2020 behind us and a vaccine underway, we can finally see the light at the end of this dark tunnel. We’re very excited to revisit last year’s plans and to bring this community back together again later this year!
When are we playing Ultimate again???
League: If things go as we hope, we can plan a Fall 2021 league. Fall seasons typically kick off in September, so look for more info over summer.
Pickups: We will start playing pickup as soon as it is safe to do so based on guidance from the City. If the city hits its vaccination goals, this might mean as early as July!
2021 Focus: Community Safety
Health: We will resume community events, gameplay, and operations in ways that heed local and state public health guidance. Things may look a little different when we start back up.
Belonging: We want to ensure a culture of psychological safety rooted in inclusion and mutual respect. This means welcoming both new and familiar faces, embracing consent regarding touch and personal space (especially as we all re-establish our boundaries post-pandemic), and creating an environment where everyone belongs.
Physical safety: We will make a big effort to reduce the rate of injury by highlighting injury prevention techniques and regularly reviewing expectations regarding body contact, risk-taking, and aggressive play.
Org updates
Email for official updates: Moving forward, we’ll announce registration and updates via email, Instagram, and on our website. This means the Facebook group will be unmoderated and no longer an official source of league info. Follow @bgf_sf and sign up for email updates at bgfsanfrancisco.com.
Nonprofit status: We are excited to finally register as a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization this year. This is a big milestone for the org that will help us do more for our league and more for the community. Thank you to everyone who has helped build BGF; you’ve all been a huge part of getting us to this next phase of growth and impact.
